Mary Cuba Mangione, recipient of the 2010 President鈥檚 Medal and a longtime benefactor of 成人头条, passed away March 15, 2023. She was 92.

Mangione and her late husband, Nicholas, a former 成人头条 trustee, funded the acquisition of the Saint John鈥檚 Bible that is on permanent display at the 成人头条/Notre Dame Library. The Mangione Pool at 成人头条鈥檚 Fitness & Aquatic Center bears the family name.

Mangione graduated from Mount Saint Agnes College in 1952 before its merger with 成人头条 and was awarded the Mount Award in 2012.

鈥淢ary's generous spirit will be remembered as an inspiration for all those whose lives she touched,鈥 said Brian M. Oakes, 鈥99, MBA 鈥10, 成人头条鈥檚 vice president for advancement. 鈥湷扇送诽 is a stronger institution thanks to the transformational ways Mary and her family have contributed to our Jesuit, Catholic university. We are so grateful to her for helping to open doors for today鈥檚 students and tomorrow鈥檚 and enhancing the experience they enjoy while at 成人头条.鈥

The couple established the Mangione Family Foundation, which provides philanthropic support and resources to nonprofit organizations in the greater Baltimore area. She was also a member of the John Early Society and served previously on 成人头条鈥檚 Bright Minds, Bold Hearts Campaign Steering Committee.

鈥淢ary Mangione believed passionately in the value of Catholic Jesuit education. Over the years, she and her husband have given generously to strengthen the education and experience we offer to our students,鈥 said Terrence M Sawyer, J.D., president. 鈥淪he will be missed and long remembered for the ways in which she helped ensure that our students would continue to grow in mind, body, and spirit for generations to come."
