The following prayer is written by Father Steve Spahn, S.J., in support of the Mission Priority Examen.

Loving God,

Inspired by our patron, St. Ignatius, we the community of ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ University Maryland seek to find and follow the will of God—as we prepare and present our Mission Priority Examen.

Stir our hearts to a sense of wonder and gratitude for the countless ways you have blessed us in our 175 years.

Help us to name and honor the many groups and individuals who have given so generously of their time, talent and treasure to see us to this day.

Tune our ears to the diverse voices of our community that we might encounter and honor their experiences and hopes.

Turn our minds to the signs of the times and the new opportunities and challenges that lie before us—that we might respond and adapt creatively and courageously.

Move us always to be honest and attentive to the ways that we have failed to live up to the strong truths we hold dear—and inspire in us a spirit to seek healing and reconciliation.

Above all Lord—direct this prayerful process for your greater glory and the aid of souls.
