Biography
Mx. Sophia Bell is a Baltimore-based artist, dancer, and choreographer, as well as the Program Specialist for the Visual and Performing Arts Department at ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ University Maryland. They earned their Bachelor of Arts from ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ University Maryland, where they double majored in English and Spanish, minored in Communication, and were a member of the Honors Program. In 2019, Mx. Bell graduated from The University of Chicago with their Master of Arts in Humanities and a certificate in Theatre and Performance Studies. Their graduate thesis, BODYTALK: Embodiment and Empathy in Dance Performance, explored disability, body image, and gender via a devised dance piece and accompanying academic essay. A former ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Dance Company member and teacher, Mx. Bell has also choreographed for groups such as the Drama Learning Center, Mary Baldwin University's Shakespeare and Performance Program, Motte and Bailey Productions, and ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ’s Theatre Program.
